RENOVATION/CONSTRUCTION SUCCESS STORY

Kings Point Golf and Country Club • Delray Beach, FL

IGM has served as the maintenance contractor for the Kings Point Golf and Country Club in Delray Beach, FL, since 2013. The country club features both an executive and a par 3 golf course. In 2022, owner Vesta Property Services and the Kings Point Recreation Board approved the full renovation of both courses over two years, which IGM oversaw.

Kings Point’s executive golf course has long been known for its beautiful scenery and challenging conditions for golfers at all skill levels. Renovations began in the summer of 2022. The project involved completely changing out all the grass on the greens, lengthening some tees, and touching up bunkers with new sand. The course was converted to TifEagle Bermuda grass, which is known for its performance quality, as well as for retaining its color during cold spells in the South.

Completion was delayed by two weeks, when the course was hit by an F1 tornado that left behind a great deal of debris. However, since the executive course opened in November 2022, the Club has reported improved customer experience and increased rounds.

The renovation of Kings Point’s par 3 course began in the summer of 2023, and the course reopened in December of 2023, at the start of South Florida’s golf season. Again, IGM changed out the grass on the greens to higher-performing TifEagle Bermuda grass. The extensive renovation also included redoing the bunkers, installing some additional drainage around the course, and renovating the irrigation system. All bunkers were reshaped and drainage was added to them. Additional tee boxes on a couple of holes completed the project.

Superintendent Chris Garrett said, “The courses were extremely busy during the season. There’s been a positive response to the overall improvement of the golf courses as well as the conditioning of the courses.”
